Volt on the hook

I left my volt in my shop for a month,I did not want the high and low voltage hooked I pulled the center console service plug, removed the neg cable, and said good bye. On return, hooked cable up, plugged plug in, and things looked good, lots of lights, put in drive,NO GO!,phone GM,blank, phoned tow truck,100 mile to kamloops, volt losted its memory, they fixed it,two days later,at no cost.
Bad mistake, leave the dam thing alone
