Wtf, car smells when it is warmed up

I have had my volt for nearly a year. The car is not perfect but it is tolerable. Anyway I currently have this problem that is driving me crazy. Whenever the gas engine is warmed up and up to full operating temperature. I would get this hint of burnt plastic smell from under the hood. The smell is especially worse when you park it after a long drive, it would sometimes leak into the cabin, but only when stopped. Does anyone know where it could be coming from. Dealers can’t figure it out. I have reported it to the nhtsb, gm and my insurance in case this f-ing car catches on fire. It is so annoying that I want to transfer this lease in a few months if it isn’t fixed

Thanks

Please file a complaint to NHTSA, that’s the only way to get their attention

That’s because there is dirty air rushing thru the powerplant area at all times. On an ICE-only vehicle the gunk gets burned off daily. On the Volt the engine doesn’t run often enough to burn it off. On my 2011 and my 2018 I would drive it for a week in ‘Hold’ or ‘Mountain’ to burn off the gunk about twice a year. Problem solved.
