Can the Volt help reduce Global Warming?

Just like what the title says, can the Volt help reduce global warming? Lets think outside the box. From the manufacturing process, to parts, batteries, the vehicle it's self, etc.

I think Chevy would have to rethink how they approach the whole manufacturing process in order for the Volt to have that kind of impact on global warming. It's the system that's at issue. The Volt, while in its own way helpful, just doesn't break the mold enough to cause systemic change.

If only the volt can also be like other Hybrid cars that can lessen the global warming. Here's an insight from wiki
Quote:
use of lithium-ion batteries reduces the overall weight of the vehicle and also achieves improved fuel economy of 30% better than gasoline-powered vehicles with a consequent reduction in CO2 emissions helping to prevent global warming.
