Question Driving in Low?

Hello! I'm new to the Volt family, having just leased a 2016 a few days ago. Coming off a manual car, I really appreciate the regen-on-demand button and the deceleration that Low gear provides. Only using brakes for the last two feet of a stop is amazing!

What I wonder, and am hoping long-time Volt owners can answer: Is there a range / mileage hit for driving in Low all the time? If so, should I be worried about wear on the shift mechanism by moving back and forth between D and L a lot? I've always been hesitant to use downshifting in automatic transmissions, but the Volt's is more of a mode selector. Driving in Low gives a similar performance to my manual car, and I'd like to have it all the time without having to shift.

Cheers!
