The Official SEMA Show After Party, And Everyone's Invited.
Oct 17, 2014 - 4:04 PM - by AutoGuide.com
Quote:
There's going to be something different about the SEMA Show in Las Vegas this year that might be worth planning a trip around. This year, the show's organizers will give people in Sin City a chance to see the show in person regardless of whether or not they are directly affiliated with the automobile industry. SEMA is one of the largest trade shows the city hosts every year, but normally admission is reserved for people who are there on "official" business. Typically, that means its a mostly off-limits mecca for modified car enthusiasts, but that won't be true this year because on Friday, November 7, much of the show will be publicly on display for "SEMA Ignited." From 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., cars from the show will pour out of the Las Vegas Convention Center onto the Strip. The show's organizers said they decided to add the event because there have been so many enthusiasts crowding around the exit at the end of the week to watch the cars exiting. Additionally, the "best of show" awards will be given out during a televised presentation as part of the Ignited event. A proud sponsor of SEMA Ignited, AutoGuide will be on hand to capture all the action.

2014 Paris Motor Show Coverage
Oct 01, 2014 - 7:40 PM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:

Kicking off the auto show season, the Paris Motor Show opens its doors to the public next week, but AutoGuide's team of reporters will get you inside early with three days of coverage from the City of Lights.

And there's a LOT of amazing hardware to see, from the Ferrari 458 Spider A, to a wild new Lamborghini Hybrid. The performance car action doesn't stop there either with the world premiere of the Mercedes AMG GT set to take place, along with a new 500+ horsepower C63 AMG.

Additional German performance comes from the new Audi TT, while rumors suggest a TT sedan will also be unveiled.

A long list of other cars includes the Range Rover Sport, Jaguar XE, Honda Civic Type R, Fiat 500X, Kia Sorento, VW Golf Alltrack and the Toyota C-HR – a sort of Prius crossover.

And one really big surprise is a 550-hp Infiniti Q80 hybrid concept.

Coverage runs October 1st to 3rd and, as always, includes the best auto show video coverage out there.

2016 Chevrolet Volt to Make Motown Debut in January
Aug 07, 2014 - 8:56 PM - by AutoGuide.com

Quote:
Chevrolet confirmed today that it plans to reveal the next version of its Volt range-extended electric car during the 2015 Detroit Auto Show.

The company didn’t release any other new details about the car, which is slated to ride on a new dedicated platform. Currently, the Volt is based on a modified version of the same architecture that underpins the Cruze compact sedan. Aside from having its own bones, Chevrolet is expected to improve the all-electric driving range for the new generation. At least in part, that range improvement be possible because of weight savings associated with the new platform. While Chevrolet hasn’t released an official number yet, the new Volt is expected to offer a range of between 50 and 60 miles compared to 40 with the current car.

In April, GM announced that it would invest $449 million into its next generation of electrified vehicles by upgrading its Detroit-Hamtramck facility. The manufacturer also said that it would invest another $65 million to support next-generation lithium-ion battery production and systems. Chevrolet is rumored to also be developing a smaller, electric only vehicle that would sit below the Volt.

Since those announcements, General Motors said that it plans to cancel Opel’s version of the Volt on sale in Europe after it failed to gain traction. Like the Volt, the Ampera is built at the company’s Detroit-Hamtramck facility alongside the Cadillac ELR, which is also having a hard time finding customers.
