Lower Battery Range than expected
So I just leased a 2013 Chevy volt now with about 80 miles on it. I live in Southern California, so although a little chilly, not so cold. At night, Maybe 48 F at the very lowest, but probably closer to 55. 70's in the daytime.
I have noticed that my odometer mileage is quite a bit less then the battery indicator says I should get. I try to keep that little ball thing in the center and can do that nearly 80% of the time. On stops, I have been downshifting to L to regenerate a little more electricity. I really haven't run the Climate controls that much, I mean for the 3 hours of drive time, I have only operated the climate controls for about 20 minutes. I do run the XM radio while I drive. Lights on Auto. I have run it about 50/50 on highway and city. Whats occurs as strange, is its the city driving where I most notice the loss in battery power vs mileage. I don't have a lot of mileage data, but I am guessing I am only getting actual mileage about 70-80% of what the battery indicator says.
Now here are some interesting points. When I bought the car, there was virtually no charge. At home, I have only been able to charge the car at 120V 8amps, and over the last two days have never gotten a full charge yet. I have gotten it up to about 26 miles once.
Any insights would be helpful. Am I missing anything? Is this 'normal'?
I will reset the trip odometer today after my first full charge and see what happens.
