Pro: ~50 miles on a full charge, plenty of power for just about every driving style. comfortable interior for front seat occupants

Con's: Back seat comfort non-existent unless under the age of 10.

Pro: Great overall fuel mileage.

I've had mine just under 2 months and couldn't be happier. Been trying to pick at the car and find little things wrong. I love the fact that I have driven the car over 1,000 miles but have only had to purchase 3.8 gallons of gas. Some of that was required due to the cold temperature and the engine being run to make sure the battery was warm enough. Also to provide some interior heat.

An average trip for me is close to 50 miles round trip. Some times I make the trip with zero gas consumed, and some days (colder ones) the total gas consumption is something like .03 gallons. A far cry from the 4-5 gallons I used to burn making the same trip in my pickup truck.

Lastly, If you are over 6' tall you will actually fit in the front seat as either driver or passenger. Good luck in a Prius.

Question A potentbuyer has some questions

I'm deciding between a Volt or Fusion Energ, cuz my next car will be a plug-in. I test drove the Volt today and was impressed. I'm told that the Volt does not come with adaptive cruise control and similar safety features (lane deviation warning, etc.). I checked the Chevrolet web site and this does seem to be correct. Anyone know why?

Red face volt has better electric mi

mine has adaptive cruise control and lane departure and a bunch of other safety stuff. the thing thati'm not impressed with is the parking assist feature, it backed right into my other car and accelerated right before it hit. i managed to get it to do it without damage but i'll never use it again. i like the energi but ithas no where near the electric miles of the volt, i live in cali and oi've gotten 62 miles on a charge.

No adaptive cruise control available. But lane assist is part of the convenience package 2.

Adaptive Cruise was a "late availability" option. It is now available. It's $595 and although it doesn't mention it anywhere, it is a full-speed control, i.e. it will bring the vehicle to a full stop in traffic.

EDIT: The adaptive Cruise as well as the driver confidence packages are only available on the Premier model, not the LT.

The parking assist only controls the steering. With that said, it's easy to miss an instruction, the car isn't very clear on what it needs you to do all the time. It kinda takes some practice.

I've been parallel parking so many years I don't even think of using it on my Volt. The car is so maneuverable that after parallel parking my Titan pickup, the Volt is a piece of cake.

FWIW, parallel parking around here is only something you run into in the "Big City". I've got better things to do with my retirement time to waste time sitting in the gridlock they have for traffic. I even drive a few extra miles around them in order to avoid their traffic. A lot safer too as there are too many fools in stop and go traffic that insist on using their phones to text and end up running into the vehicle in front of them.
