Washington State has squandered all their fuel tax money on Bike Paths, light rail, and roadway art. Now they are coming after anything the very type of transportation they're trying to promote.
I won't complain too much about the $150 EV tax considering that I annually paid a lot more in fuel tax for my previous vehicle. More like $400 per year in just state gasoline tax. So far I've purchased less than 4 gallons of gas in just over 2 months. Projected to an annual purchase of 25 gallons I don't see myself getting screwed too badly.
Now if the State would only be forced to put money derived from motor vehicle taxes into roads accessible to motor vehicles, not bike ways, rapid transit, light rail, and all the other political favorites of the day.
